Healthy living prevents breast cancer
Women aren't doing enough to reduce their risk of developing breast cancer, say experts from the World Cancer Research Fund.
According to a WCRF report, up to 20,000 cases of breast cancer could be avoided each year in the UK if women had healthier lifestyles.
Half an hour of exercise, drinking just one alcoholic drink a day and losing weight is all it would take to reduce your risk, say the researchers. However, the recommendations may not be so effective if you have a family history of breast cancer, say other experts.
Meanwhile, Swedish scientists claim drinking five or more cups of coffee a day could help protect women against an aggressive form of breast cancer (oestrogen-receptor negative breast cancer, which affects one in four women diagnosed with the disease). The report is published in the journal Breast Cancer Research.
