Snoring leads to separate beds

If you and your partner sleep apart, chances are it's because one of you snores, suggests a survey by the Etap Hotel group.

A quarter of couples claim they can only get a good night's rest if they sleep in separate beds thanks to problems including snoring, which - if the survey is correct - causes 70 minutes of lost sleep per night in three quarters of the population.

But snoring isn't the only nocturnal habit that keeps couples in separate rooms. Hogging the duvet, restlessness and noisiness (such as talking in your sleep) were among the other common complaints the poll of 4,000 couples found.

Almost twenty-five percent of people resent the partner who keeps them awake, with lack of sleep causing arguments between 50 percent of couples. And five percent say they would even consider splitting up their relationship thanks to their partner's snoring.

If your snoring - or your partner's - is causing relationship problems, ask your pharmacist for advice on anti-snoring aids that are available in pharmacies. You can find your nearest participating pharmacy here.
